The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences is the alliance of the four academies of sciences in Switzerland. It encompasses the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT), the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW), the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMA / SAMW) and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW). In addition, it consists of the two centers of excellence - the center for technology assessment (TA-SWISS) and Science et Cité - as well as other networks of science.
The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences links scientists and science associations in different regions, within Switzerland and with organizations from abroad. They represent the scientific community independently from institutions and disciplines, their work is both intra- and interdisciplinary. The network has a long term perspective and strives for scientific excellence. It counsels politicians and society in questions of scientific concern and societal relevance.

Year founded: 2006
