Spotlight SSOM
SSOM has launched a new online talk series designed to provide added value to our members by bringing leading experts from around the world directly to our community through accessible and engaging virtual events. The series, titled SSOM Spotlight, offers free Zoom-based talks covering a broad range of topics in life science and material science, with the goal of alternating between these fields throughout the year.
Format
The format is intentionally simple and flexible. Around eight to nine talks will be organized annually, avoiding the summer holiday period and December when schedules are typically more demanding. Rather than following a fixed weekday or time slot, talks will be scheduled according to speaker availability and topic relevance, allowing us to remain adaptable and responsive.
How to join
Invitations will be distributed through the Clubdesk-server to all registered SSOM members and include the participation link together with a short abstract of the presentation. To keep participation straightforward and accessible, no prior registration is required. Sharing links with non-members is welcomed, as it helps increase the visibility of SSOM and may encourage future membership interest.
Interactive
The success of the series relies on the active involvement of the SSOM community. Members of the committee are encouraged to suggest speakers and topics, take the lead in inviting speakers, coordinate dates, and host individual sessions. The overall organization and coordination of the series will continue to be managed centrally to ensure smooth operation and consistency across events.
To establish a strong foundation for the series, several talks have already been organized ahead of the broader public announcement.
